


In August 2018, the Chery Arrizo 5 family sedan was launched in Egypt. It's classified as a compact sedan and is considered the new generation of the Chery Envy model. It was offered in two trim levels, with prices ranging from EGP 271,900 to EGP 289,900. Initially offered as an imported model from China, the car was reintroduced in July 2019 as a locally produced version with three trim levels, with prices ranging from EGP 168,900 to EGP 202,900.
The locally assembled version was introduced as a 2022 model, while the imported version was introduced as a 2019 model. The car's design appears largely traditional, with some sporty touches in the design of the headlights, front grille, wheels, and bumpers. Equipment includes a hydraulic power steering system and 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels with 205/55R16 tires. In June 2020, the car's price was increased to start at EGP 169,900. The car was introduced in September 2020 as a 2021 model with the same previous price, starting at EGP 169,900. The second category starts at EGP 188,000, the third category starts at EGP 189,900, and the fourth category starts at EGP 202,900, making the total number of categories four. The third category differs from the second category only in the type of interior upholstery, which is black leather, and costs EGP 1,900 more than the second category.
GB Ghabbour Auto announced the expansion of its participation in the presidential initiative to replace and renew old cars with natural gas-powered ones, by introducing the Chery Arrizo 5 sedan to the initiative in 2022.

The locally assembled car uses a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, DVVT engine that produces 116 hp at 6,150 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 3,800 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed CVT continuously variable automatic transmission. Power is transmitted from the engine to the front wheels.
The fuel tank holds approximately 48 liters. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds. With the manual transmission, it consumes an average of 5.7 liters per 100 km in and around the city. The top speed is 185 km/h for the manual and 180 km/h for the automatic.
The car's performance is average, not fast, but it can reach 180 km/h. The engine is considered to have average economic performance, not strong performance, as it produces power at high revs. Therefore, at medium and low revs, you don't get the maximum performance you desire. Despite the average performance resulting from an engine that doesn't offer sporty performance, there are no common problems.
The transmission is somewhat old, so the car takes some time in the first shift. There is also some lag in the transmission at medium speeds and when shifting to higher speeds. As for the car's fuel consumption, it is good for its class, with an Eco button to save fuel, which is considered one of its advantages. The steering is average, but there is a jolt in the steering wheel after 120 km, and steering maneuverability isn't the best, as the steering is slow, which is compensated by the car's significant stability at high speeds.
The car is 4572 mm long, 1825 mm wide, and 1482 mm high. It has a 2670 mm wheelbase and a standard luggage compartment capacity of 430 liters. The car's curb weight is approximately 1297 mm.
Although the interior materials are mostly plastic in various colors, with leather accents in the higher trim levels, the quality of the car's finish is excellent and no different from the imported version.
The car offers ample interior space due to its long wheelbase. It provides good front legroom and headroom for the driver and front passenger, with the driver's seat being comfortably adjustable, surpassing its competitors. It also offers ample rear space, accommodating two or three people, with a slightly lower gearbox, which doesn't cause significant problems. There's also ample rear legroom, with a large distance between the front seatbacks and the rear seats, and good rear headroom. The seats themselves are also very comfortable, especially the driver and front passenger seats, which are comfortable and better than other seats in their class.

The car's sound insulation is a drawback. Air insulation is good, but the insulation is above average, so you don't hear traffic noises in the cabin in city areas. However, the sound insulation over bumps is noticeable, and the car overall isn't overly rough.
The cabin offers plenty of features, including a rearview camera and decent front storage space, including two cupholders and another storage space under the headrest. The car also offers multiple interior storage spaces in the rear. The car offers a low driving position, which gives it a sporty feel, and a large glass area, providing better visibility for the driver both in the front and rear.
Spare parts are widely available outside the dealership, and their prices are reasonable and not expensive. Car maintenance has also become more widespread due to the car's popularity and its presence in Egypt since 2019, which has led to technicians becoming accustomed to it for three years. The car comes with a MacPherson strut front suspension and a Torigen Beam rear suspension. Its best features are its stability on the road, with the ability to maneuver and turn without leaning at high speeds, outperforming its competitors in stability in particular.
The suspension also tends to be comfortable and smooth, absorbing bumps and potholes well and absorbing road imperfections. The higher the speed, the better it is at absorbing road imperfections, but it's definitely not the best suspension.
