SEAT's agent in Egypt offered the Alhambra model for a very limited period. While this car may not have generated much interest from buyers in Egypt, it remains one of the few family MPVs that has generated significant interest in the country. Named after the famous Alhambra Palace in Andalusia, the second generation of the car was first introduced in 2010. It is based on the same platform as the Volkswagen Sharan and was released in a special edition called Xcellence. The Alhambra was launched in Egypt at the 2015 Automech Formula as a new model joining the SEAT range for the first time in 2015.
The car was introduced in Egypt at this time in a single trim level, priced at EGP 338,000 at the time of its launch at the 2015 Automech Formula. This car competes with the Ford Galaxy and Citroën Grand C4 Space Tourer.
This car is powered by a 1.4-liter TSI engine with a turbocharger and supercharger, producing 150 hp and 240 Nm of torque. It can reach 100 km/h in 10.7 seconds and a top speed of 197 km/h. The engine is mated to a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission. The car boasts excellent fuel economy and comes with a simple, yet not particularly fuel-efficient, engine lineup. However, fuel consumption has been reduced by 12 percent across all models, improving fuel economy over its predecessor.
It's a seven-seat family minivan with power-sliding rear doors that facilitate entry and exit from the rear. The car has a compact exterior and a spacious interior, with three rows of seats to accommodate seven passengers.
The storage capacity in the rear of the car can reach up to 2,430 liters with the third-row seats folded, which is a significant amount of space for such a vehicle. The car is not without modern technology, safety, and comfort features.
Inside, the dashboard is logical and clear, but it lacks some of the features found in more recent advanced vehicles. There is ample head and legroom in the first two rows, and enough space in the third row for adults, although not as comfortable as the first two rows. Even with all seven seats in use, there's still a decent-sized trunk that's equal to the luggage space you get in a Ford Fiesta.
The car comes with seven individual seats, with the third row still spacious enough to accommodate adults and easier access thanks to the tilt-and-slide middle row. It outperforms competitors in terms of interior space.
The cabin is also incredibly airy and light, meaning great all-round visibility.
The car is considered a rare vehicle, and its spare parts are expensive and rare as well. The car only spent a very short period in the Egyptian market, which can be considered a testing period for the car, which has not achieved local demand. However, spare parts for the car can be imported for its owners in the local market.
