Renault introduced its Megane Grand Coupe to Egypt in late 2016, where it was first unveiled at the 2016 Automech Formula exhibition. Launched as a 2017 model, it was considered an alternative to the distinguished Renault Fluence, which had a significant impact on the Egyptian car market. However, in the years in which it was launched in Egypt, starting with the 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 models, the Megane Grand Coupe failed to achieve the same strong image as the Renault Fluence in the local market.
However, the car, which is manufactured in Turkey and offered with zero customs duties starting in 2020, is distinguished by its elegant design and spacious interior, as well as numerous driver-assistance technologies and powerful, fuel-efficient engines. The car was available in the local market in three trim levels, each with different equipment, features, and engines. These included the E2 trim, priced at EGP 333,000; the E2+ trim, priced at EGP 366,000; and the E3 trim, priced at EGP 466,000 at the time of its launch in Egypt.
The car is manufactured on the CMF platform, a flexible platform that provides the car with numerous advantages. In terms of exterior design, the car is influenced by the design and lines of the larger Talisman sedan, and the design is a four-door coupe.

The third-generation Renault Megane Grand Coupe is powered by a 1.2-liter, 16-valve, 4-cylinder turbo engine with increased power, producing 130 hp at 5,500 rpm and 205 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. This powerful engine enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h, while maintaining fuel efficiency. It is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission, with an average fuel consumption of 5.4 liters per 100 km.
The engine's response is quick when changing driving modes, while the car is also considered fuel-efficient. The car is also quite fast. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission enables it to reach a top speed of 200 km/h (120 mph) and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 10.9 seconds. The car maintains its fuel economy, averaging 5.4 liters per 100 km (5.4 litres per 100 km). The car excels on highway driving, where the engine's advantages are evident.
Some complain about the car's transmission shifting, and the Renault Megane's performance figures are lower than its competitors, with a slow acceleration of 11.8 seconds. Its top speed of 190 km/h (128 mph) is not very fast, and its fuel consumption is considered good, as it focuses on fuel economy and practicality over high performance and speed.
Measuring 4.6 meters in length, 2.058 meters in width, and 1.4 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.71 meters, the Renault Mégane Grand Coupe combines a spacious interior with ample storage space, up to 508 liters, one of the largest in its class, making it highly practical. The car shares its interior design with the Talisman models, while also incorporating Kadjar influences, with a distinctive sporty design that exudes elegance and power.
The cabin features a Start/Stop system and distinctive interior technology, including a large 8.7-inch center screen, which controls many of the car's functions via the Multi-Sense system. This includes GPS navigation, driving modes between Sport, Comfort, and Eco, air conditioning controls, and an advanced entertainment system with eight speakers and a 3D sound system.
The screen is also touch-controlled, while the instrument panel is also a digital gauge cluster. The driver enjoys easy control through switches and controls that facilitate driving, along with a central screen and colors that change depending on the driving mode. Passengers also feel comfortable in the car, thanks to the car's 2.71-meter wheelbase. It features carefully designed, comfortable seats with heated front seats, a spacious cabin, and a large rear trunk. Both manual and automatic air conditioning are available. The car also offers features found in higher-end models, such as seat massage and side airbags. The cabin is also well insulated from external sounds, providing a quiet environment for passengers. The car's rear seat is somewhat cramped, but it offers ample storage space.Spare parts for the car are not readily available, and their prices are extremely high. Transmission and ignition card failures occur frequently, and maintenance costs are high at the dealership. It's also difficult to service the car outside the dealership, and few people are able to service it from regular workshops due to the sophistication of the car and its engines.
The car boasts good stability at medium speeds, providing confidence and safety thanks to its engine, transmission, and long wheelbase. The steering system also provides precise handling and excellent maneuverability and dynamic driving. The car's soft and smooth suspension provides a comfortable ride, handling bumps comfortably and maintaining a steady flow at medium and high speeds.
The car is not considered a good reseller as it is slow to resell and its resale price is lower due to the car's lack of popularity compared to Korean and Japanese models, the reputation of French cars for maintenance, and the high cost of maintenance and spare parts.
The Renault Megane received a 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test, scoring 88% for adult occupant safety, 87% for child occupant safety, 71% for pedestrian safety, and 71% for safety assistance systems.
