Perodua Kelisa 2001-2008

Broadway Kelsea was introduced to the world from 2001 to 2007 as a five-door hatchback related to the Daihatsu Mira and remained in Egypt until the 2008 model. The car is considered the successor to the Kanchel models and was replaced after its production was discontinued by the Viva models. The Kelsa is a city car manufactured by Malaysian automaker Perodua. It was launched in 2001 as a successor to the Kancel model. It was also sold alongside the Kancel for a period, with the latter never being discontinued immediately after the Kelsa's launch. Both remained in production until they were both retired, replaced by the Viva model in 2007. The Kelsa was offered in three trim levels: EX, GX, and EZ. The car received a facelift in 2003, but the trim levels remained the same. The car featured a redesigned front grille, a new front bumper design, a new rear bumper with reflectors, a side guard, a new rear wiper, a roof antenna, and new alloy wheels for the EX model. The Perodua Kelsa was a small car that was popular in the local market, but its introduction to the Egyptian market was discontinued some time ago due to technical issues related to the parent company's shifting of the steering wheel from side to side. The car was also discontinued due to technical issues related to the parent company's shifting of the steering wheel from side to side.

Motor

The car is powered by a 3-cylinder, 1000cc, Daihatsu, EFI, 2 DOHC, 12-valve engine. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission designed to extend engine life or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car produces 53 hp at 5,200 rpm and 88.3 lb-ft of torque. Newton meters at 3,800 rpm, and this car can reach 100 km/h in 14.8 seconds.

Car owners confirm that the engine is suitable for the car's size and provides it with the ability to operate well in cities. The car's traction is excellent, and it can reach speeds of up to 120 km/h with good traction. However, traction declines after that, which is why the car is used in drifting, autocross, and other races in Egypt.

The car achieves very economical fuel consumption, according to most owners in Egypt, with a tank capacity of 35 liters, achieving a distance of approximately 21 km per liter of fuel, although normal consumption on the road is slightly lower than the official figures. The car's engine sound is smooth, and the car's air conditioning does not significantly affect traction. Most owners confirm that the car is reliable, fast, and has excellent traction.

The car comes with a wheelbase of 2.345 meters, a total length of 3.490 meters, a width of 1.490 meters, a height of 1.420 meters, and a total weight ranging between 771 to 806 kg. It is a car that can accommodate five passengers despite its small size. It has the ability to fold the rear seats to increase storage space, but the car owners confirm that the salon space is small despite that and the rear sofa is narrow. However, as for closing the car from the inside, it comes with good materials that are appropriate for its size and price.

Spare Parts

30%

The car comes with durable spare parts and is durable. Most of the maintenance required for it includes changing the oil, filters, and oil pads. There are both expensive and cheap spare parts available. Original parts used to be expensive at the dealership and are difficult to find now. However, counterfeit Taiwanese parts, in particular, are half the price, and their spare parts are currently available in limited quantities due to the car's long-standing discontinuation in Egypt and its limited availability.

There are some spare parts that are difficult to find for the car. As we explained, original, imported, and Taiwanese parts are available on the market, but in very limited stores. However, the car's spare parts are the same as Daihatsu Mira spare parts, except for a few pieces.

Suspension

50%

The Produk Klissa is a suitable car for Egyptian roads because it is a small car that can handle traffic in Egypt more easily than sedans and even hatchbacks. The car comes with a McPherson front suspension and offers a great sense of control. It can also be said that the car may struggle a bit on Egyptian roads due to its medium ground clearance, especially if there are several passengers in the car, which means it may struggle more with bumps.

Some have also complained that the car's suspension is dry and inflexible, meaning that the driver and passengers feel bumps sharply. The car is stable up to a speed of 120 km/h, but after that, stability becomes somewhat weak.

The Kelsa didn't sell much, but its image was always distinctive, and it even participated in many races. However, the problem is that its presence is weak in the used market, and its scarcity may be due to spare parts and their high prices. The car's drawback is that reselling it makes its price lose, as demand for it is low due to its scarcity and spare parts, but when compared to competing cars such as the Picanto, many have tipped the scales in its favor due to the Picanto's high price.
