Mitsubishi Lancer 2000-2003

Egyptians called the Mitsubishi Lancer, which was launched in the early 2000s, "the Iron" because the car's shape and design resembled iron, especially at the rear. This design is considered a flaw that some may see in the car, as it did not enjoy as much popularity as other Lancer models. This prevented this car from lasting long in the market, despite being an evolution of the Lancer Evolution.

The Iron Lancer was introduced in Egypt between 2000 and 2003, and it came with a new front end. It is one of the cars that can be modified in a distinctive way, with as many modifications as possible added to it, and it is only rivaled in this by the Crystal.

However, the problem with this car in Egypt is that it is not as widespread as other Lancer models, such as the Puma, Crystal, and Shark, and demand for it is not at the same level. It can be said that a model like the Crystal surpasses it in demand and presence. Clear.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Iron has a 1300 cc carburetor engine with a manual transmission with a distinctive technology, which is the same capacity as the Mitsubishi Lancer Puma engine. The car's engine is economical in fuel consumption, but it is not as economical as other Lancer cars. The engine is also affected somewhat when the air conditioning is on because it is a 1300 cc engine, but this does not mean that the car's performance is bad.

One of the owners of a 2002 Lancer told me: "It is normal for the car's performance to be a little weak because its engine is 1300 cc, and this is normal for such small-capacity engines."

The car is also available with another 1600 cc engine with a transmission Automatic and a third engine of 2000 cc is not common in Egypt. It can be said that it is more common outside Egypt, but there are limited copies of it in the market, and they are mostly Gulf-made or imported from other places.

The interior is distinctive and chic, especially in the front. It's also quite spacious and has the same interior as the Puma models. Sitting inside the car makes you feel higher off the ground than the Puma models. It also has features such as central locking, power steering, and remote control, but it's less luxurious than other models.

The car also has a quiet interior and good insulation from external noise. The car also provides the driver with a clear view of the road. The car's roof is high, and its body is wide and long, making it suitable for passenger comfort, as it can accommodate five passengers well.

Malik Al-Hakawataki: "The car has many features and luxuries, but it lacks safety features, as it has no ABS brakes or airbags."

Spare Parts

Car spare parts are less widely available and more expensive than the Crystal, but they are available and widespread, though not as widely available as the Crystal and Puma, as we explained. Also, car repairs are easy because the engine is a carburetor and doesn't require complex technology.

One of the car owners told us: "Spare parts for the car are available and widespread, and their prices are reasonable—not low or expensive."

Suspension

70%

The car comes with a distinctive chassis and a distinctive suspension that is comfortable to handle and better than other Lancer cars. It is similar to the Puma’s suspension and is smoother in movement and operation. It is also reasonably higher off the ground and provides good stability on the road.

However, the car's drawback is that its exterior structure isn't particularly strong, and it weighs more, which makes its exterior appearance significantly more vulnerable to wear and tear. Therefore, it's difficult for young people to acquire and maintain, as it shows some rough or hard use, resulting in a worn-out appearance. However, it's suitable for those who maintain the car and drive calmly. It should also look good and not be worn out upon purchase, which means it's difficult to resell due to its exterior structure, which quickly shows age and wear. However, if it's in good condition, it's not difficult to find a buyer for it in the market.

It's considered one of the most reasonably priced cars on the market compared to other cars. If you overlook the fact that it has a 1300cc engine in one of its versions, a point that many may find problematic in selling the car, its weak exterior sheet metal, and its unacceptable design, it can be said that its price will be suitable for those who don't want a car to drive crazily or recklessly. It can be said that it's a car for conservatives and those who want In madness, it's easy to drop engines and modify them with larger engines, which makes them more similar to the famous Evo models.

One Lancer owner told me: "The average price of a 2002 model, for example, ranges between 115 and 128 thousand pounds. As for reselling the car, it's somewhat difficult due to market conditions on the one hand, and because the buyer can add an amount to the price and buy an older German BMW model for an average of 140 or 150 thousand pounds, and end up owning a German BMW, not just a Lancer."
