


Ford launched its Focus 1000cc in Egypt in late 2016 as a 2017 model. The Focus is an award-winning car. The Focus 1000cc was manufactured at Ford's factory in Germany and boasts an elegant exterior and interior design that complements the feeling of comfort and driving enjoyment. The car offers European elegance, American heritage, and German quality in one of the best mid-size family sedan models.
The new Ford Focus Sedan was introduced with an award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine. The car was launched in Egypt in sedan and hatchback versions in 2018 at a price of EGP 359,900. However, when it was launched in late 2016, before the pound was floated, it was available in eight sedan and hatchback variants at the following prices:

The car won the "World's Best Engine" award for three consecutive years, from 2012 to 2014, in addition to the 2013 International Paul Pietsch Award for Technical Innovation in Germany, the Dewar's Award from the Royal Automobile Club in Britain, and the "Exceptional Achievement" award from Popular Mechanics magazine in the United States. It is worth noting that Ford is the only car manufacturer to have won the Ward's 10 Best Engines award for a 3-cylinder engine.
The 1000 cc EcoBoost engine was also awarded the title of "World's Best Engine." For three consecutive years, it was unanimously selected by a jury of 82 automotive journalists representing 35 countries at the 2014 International Engine Show in Stuttgart, Germany, outperforming 32 competing engines. In 2016, it was voted "Best Engine" at the International Engine of the Year Awards for the fifth consecutive time, and it is also used in Formula 1 racing engines. With this award, the Focus has now won 13 major awards.
The Focus is powered by a 1000cc EcoBoost turbocharged three-cylinder engine, which has been tested in 72 countries around the world and has proven highly efficient. The engine produces 123 horsepower, the same as its predecessor, the 1600cc Focus. The Focus 1000cc also produces 170 Nm of torque, which is more powerful than the 1600cc regular engines in the previous Ford Focus, and delivers horsepower similar to that of the 1600cc four-cylinder engines.
The engine's compression ratio is 10:1. In addition to its significant fuel economy with 92-octane gasoline, which is the primary feature of the car's engine, it is also an environmentally friendly engine, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by up to 20% compared to conventional gasoline engines. This has proven its reliability and efficiency, achieving unparalleled success.
All these features are achieved through a combination of direct fuel injection and air charging via a turbocharger, which maintains low fuel temperature and density, thus reducing fuel consumption while maximizing engine performance, especially at lower speeds, compared to a conventional fuel injection system.
It's worth noting that the development and design of the EcoBoost engine took more than 5 million man-hours by more than 100 engineers and designers at Ford's research and development centers in Aachen and Merkenich in Germany, and Dagenham and Dunton in the United Kingdom.
The new Ford Focus also comes with a manual transmission. The six-speed automatic transmission offers the highest levels of smoothness and sportiness, and is extremely smooth and harmonious whether driving in the city and its congested roads or on the highways. The new transmission also offers the option of automatic driving with a fuel-saving program or shifting to the sport mode, with immediate response to the Focus driver's desires during acceleration.
The Focus 1000 cc has changed the way Egyptian buyers think about purchasing cars with engines smaller than 1600 cc, which Egyptians are accustomed to in this category. The car's launch in Egypt with an engine smaller than 1200 cc comes amid the long-standing abolition of customs duties on this category of cars, which has led to its popularity in the country.
Previously, it was launched with a 1600 cc engine producing 123 hp and a choice of a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The car faces a slight problem with initial acceleration from a standstill due to its weight and the availability of an automatic transmission. Although the car's engine is small, it provides good acceleration.
The car features a spacious cabin that complements the feeling of comfort and driving enjoyment. It also offers a high level of luxury, including a keyless entry/start system and a keyless entry/start button. It also features a 4-way power driver's seat, as well as separate digital air conditioning that allows for temperature control in each direction.

The cost of periodic car maintenance in 2017 ranged between EGP 1,773 and EGP 5,974 for maintenance intervals ranging from 10,000 km to 100,000 km. .
The car offers good stability on steep turns thanks to the availability of the electronic stability program (ESP) and the ABS brakes, which prevent the car from slipping on turns. There were no discrepancies regarding the car's suspension, road stability, or problems caused by the car's roughness or poor quality of the suspension, especially since although the car is originally American, it is manufactured in Germany with high quality.
Resale value of the car isn't strong because the Ford name isn't as strong in the market as Korean and Japanese cars, which dominate the used and resale markets in Egypt. However, many people know the value of Ford cars and request them by name, but resale value isn't as fast as with Korean and Japanese cars.
