Daihatsu Materia 2007 - 2009 Review

The car was introduced in Egypt with a 1500cc, 4-cylinder, 16-valve DVVT-DOHC electronically injected engine, producing 105 hp at 6,000 rpm and 132 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. It's a 16-valve, fully Japanese-made engine, mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. It also offers a 40-liter fuel tank. Fuel consumption is 7.2 liters per 100 km for the manual and 7.3 liters per 100 km for the automatic.

After that, it will rely primarily on imported spare parts from dealers.

Spare parts are also not widely available outside the dealership and from dealers in Egypt.

The car is stable on the road, balanced, and doesn't sway to the right or left. At the same time, the suspension is a little rough and needs to be tightened regularly. The roughness is more in the rear of the car than the front. This doesn't mean it's rough in the back, but it's uncomfortable when you feel the road.

The car's ground clearance is about 15 cm, which is an average distance, making it capable of handling bumps and potholes well. The wheelbase is also characterized by the front wheels being close to the rear, making it easier to handle bumps and avoiding them rubbing against the road.

The car's position in the used market is difficult, as it has a moderate presence due to its weak sales as a new car. Although it is considered a lower-priced alternative to the Hyundai Matrix, it has not achieved the same popularity as the Matrix due to the strength of the Hyundai brand and its agent, while the Daihatsu brand is not as strong in the Egyptian market.

The Matrix lacks several criteria for resale, including the high price of spare parts, the lack of widespread availability of spare parts, and the car's high fuel consumption.
