Reviews - Ssang Yong Tivoli 2015-2019

Motor

70%

The car is powered by a 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder engine, Euro 6 compliant, designed for fuel efficiency. It produces 128 hp and 160 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. It has a 47-liter fuel tank. Initially offered with a manual transmission, the car is now available with an automatic only.

The car is available with two-wheel or four-wheel drive and can tow up to 1,500 kg. It can accelerate to 100 km/h in 12 seconds, but the engine feels slower than the more flexible diesel engines available in other markets, requiring more time and higher engine revs to accelerate quickly. When cornering at high speed, the Tivoli leans more toward its outside front wheel. The car lacks quick response, but its acceleration is good compared to some well-known competitors. The Tivoli also outperforms its competitors in terms of fuel consumption, with the gasoline engine averaging 44 mpg and 5.7 liters per 100 km, which is also typical of the car. Fuel consumption increases with all-wheel drive or an automatic transmission.

The Tivoli's luxurious cabin offers ample interior space for both front and rear passengers, making it the ideal vehicle for everyday use and leisure activities. The car measures 4.202 meters long, 1.798 meters wide, and 1.590 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.6 meters. The vehicle weighs 1,300 kg for the front-wheel-drive version and 1,400 kg for the all-wheel-drive version.

The car also offers a 423-liter trunk, enough to accommodate five adults and their luggage. Unusually for this type of vehicle, the Tivoli can comfortably accommodate three adults in the rear seats, so even those sitting in the middle of the rear seats will not feel uncomfortable.

All doors have storage spaces, while the trunk is more spacious. Of all models in this class, even with the spare tire stowed, folding the rear seats provides more storage space.

The front seats offer back support, but the steering wheel doesn't adjust, meaning some may struggle to find the best driving position inside the car.

The Tivoli offers passengers all the benefits of an SUV with the comfort and convenience of a sedan. The all-new Tivoli is equipped with features such as a 7-inch smart touchscreen, a multimedia port, iPod connectivity, and Bluetooth, 18-inch aluminum wheels, steering-mounted audio controls, and cruise control.

The car's drawbacks are tire noise, which is more noticeable on highways, as well as wind noise at high speeds, which can make driving tiring on long journeys.

Spare Parts

50%

Spare parts for the car are available at the dealership and outside the dealership as well. Although they are not widely available like other Korean cars from Hyundai and Kia, the prices are fairly reasonable and there are no complaints about the car's spare parts in general, with the continued expansion of the availability of more spare parts for the car outside the dealership in the recent period with the expansion of its spread in Egypt.

Suspension

60%

The car has a suspension system that performs well on highways and paved roads, but it doesn't seem as good inside cities. It has a rigid suspension in the front and rear to provide strength and raise the car to suit off-road or Egyptian roads. The front suspension is MacPherson strut and the rear suspension is multi-link with 4 links for all-wheel drive. The front-wheel drive also has a Torsion suspension. The car also has a ground clearance of 16.7 cm, making it suitable for Egyptian roads in terms of handling bumps.

The Tivoli offers excellent quality compared to its low price, outperforming its competitors in terms of value for money. The car also offers durability, solidity, and a long warranty of 5 years or 100,000 km. This means it has not yet been out of warranty since its launch in Egypt in 2015. This is considered a positive development for its resale value, especially given its recent popularity in Egypt and its presence with a strong and well-known dealership belonging to the Qasrawi family.

This has provided it with a decent resale value and a good resale price, especially since it is a Korean car, not a Chinese one. The company has thus recently tried to convey this idea to buyers, confirming that it is a Korean car after being affected in previous periods by rumors that it was a Chinese car. Recent advertisements have been successful in confirming the car's Korean identity, but resale value is still better for its well-known competitors, given their long-standing presence in the market, whether Korean or European.

Security

80%

Passenger safety is also a top priority for this vehicle, and the Tivoli offers best-in-class standards, including dual airbags for front-seat passengers.

There are also numerous features such as

Electronic Stability Program

Three-point seatbelts

Non-lock brakes

Anti-lock brakes (ABS)

Hill start assist

Hill start brake assist

Traction control system

Emergency stop signal

Seatbelt warning for all five seats

Front and rear sensors

Fog lights

Central locking

Front drum brakes Ventilated

Rear drum brakes

The front and rear fog lights provide greater visibility and increased visibility for the driver during fog. The car also comes with an immobilizer, which protects the car from theft by preventing the engine from starting and an audible alarm in the event of an attempt to open the car doors improperly. It includes braking systems that ensure safe handling on the road, such as ABS, EBD, and electronic stability control, to maintain the car's stability on the road.

However, the car only has two airbags in the front, with no other passengers in the car, and there is no electric parking brake.
