The Esperanza M12 is essentially the same as the M11, except that the M11 was a sedan converted into a hatchback version called the M12. The car was manufactured in China and offered at its launch price of EGP 75,000 in a single trim in Egypt. The car was available in Egypt from 2010 to 2014 and was sold worldwide from 2008 to 2015.

It's a five-door hatchback and first appeared as a concept model at the 2006 Beijing Motor Show. Sales began in China in September 2008. It was designed by the Italian Pininfarina studio. The car has been called by many names worldwide, including Tengu, Cielo, Skin, and others.
