


The SEAT Arona facelift was unveiled four years after the introduction of the first generation of the vehicle, which is considered SEAT's smallest SUV. The car, which was introduced in Egypt as a facelift for the 2021 model, received new updates to its design, interior, and technology. When the car was unveiled in Egypt, it was reduced to only two trim levels instead of the three trim levels in the pre-facelift version, including the Style and FR. The car also offered a warranty of 5 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first. The 2022 model price reached EGP 365,000 for the Style trim and EGP 390,000 for the FR trim.
The 2024 SEAT Arona reached EGP 1.3 million in its sole trim, which became available in 2024 under the name Arona Experience.
Updates to the Arona included a new front design, including an updated front grille, front bumper, and fog lights. At the rear, a new spoiler and diffuser were added, and the font used in the car's name was changed to a handwritten style. The updates also included an increase in the size of the front grille, resulting in a different size for the lower grille, as well as a new design for the front bumper, which received new silver accents. The fog lights were replaced by their previous location within the air vents, now located on either side of the grille. The headlights now feature LED technology as standard.
At the rear, the Arona also features a new rear bumper with silver accents next to the spoiler and diffuser. The font used in the car's name has also been changed to a handwritten style. New 17- and 18-inch wheels are also available, along with three new exterior colors and three roof colors.

As for the engines, the SEAT Arona facelift has replaced the Ibiza's engine with a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine capable of generating 115 hp and 200 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10 seconds, with a top speed of 190 km/h. Average fuel consumption is estimated at 5.3 liters per 100 km.
Although the engine has been replaced with a smaller 1.0-liter engine, replacing the 1.6-liter, the horsepower has increased from 110 hp to 115 hp thanks to the addition of a turbocharger. Of course, concerns about this version of the car may increase further due to many people's distrust of small 1000cc engines, especially given their presence in a car the size of the Arona. Furthermore, the engine is equipped with a turbo, which has caused numerous problems for Egyptians. However, given the numbers and performance of the car, power and torque have increased from 155 to 200 Newton meters. Acceleration has improved from 11.5 seconds to 10 seconds, a difference of a full second and a half. Top speed has increased from 180 to 190 km/h, with fuel consumption improving from 6 to 5.3 liters per 100 km. Thus, changing the engine has improved the car's performance despite its smaller size. The engine produces a harsh sound, which is common with small 1000cc engines, but overall, the new engine has transformed the car into a better-driving version than its predecessor, transforming it into the best in its class, with great agility. Driving has become easier, the electric steering is easy, and the car is smooth to drive. It also offers better fuel economy due to the smaller engine.
The transmission has also been replaced from a traditional 6-speed automatic to a 7-speed DSG. Despite people's concerns about this type of transmission due to its previous problems, these problems have been eliminated by changing its cooling nature, making it better at operating on Egyptian roads while simultaneously providing significantly better performance than traditional automatic transmissions. Regarding the transmission's performance in real-world testing, there is some hesitation on the upswings, which is normal for this type of transmission, but there is no hesitation at different speeds. However, in my experience, it is very quick and smooth in shifting, especially in Sport mode, and interacts with the engine more quickly, which further enhances the car's outstanding performance.
The SEAT Arona facelift is longer and lower than the previous version, while the width remains the same, as follows:
Length: 4,154 mm instead of 4,138 mm.
Width: 1,780 mm, unchanged.
Height: 1,537 mm instead of 1,552 mm.
Wheelbase: 2,566 mm, same length.
Trunk space: 400 liters, unchanged.
Fuel tank capacity: 40 liters.
Vehicle weight: 1,223 kg instead of 1,194 kg.
The facelift version of the Arona received interior changes, including a revised dashboard design, including a new infotainment screen in the center of the dashboard. The screen, which was previously positioned below the air conditioning vents, has been moved upwards, creating a more streamlined design, measuring between 8.2 and 9.2 inches, instead of the 6.5 and 8 inches in the pre-facelift version. Below it is a partition that extends the dashboard and includes the air conditioning vents. The new screen provides smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with emergency calls and live traffic data.
Instead of the previous gauges, the Arona received a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster display in the higher FR Sport and Experience Lux trims. The same climate control switches remain unchanged, but the multi-function steering wheel, finished in premium Nappa leather, comes standard on all versions.
As for the interior space, the front seats offer good legroom and can be adjusted. The driver's seat is slightly elevated, offering a clear view of the road. The rear space is good and better than its competitors, but the rear bench can only accommodate two passengers and a child due to the high transmission tunnel in the middle.
The storage space in the rear of the car is large, reaching 400 liters, which is a good number, and increases when the rear seats are folded down. There are also average interior storage spaces, and the storage space in the trunk has not changed despite the car's increased length.
As for the car's cabin experience, the sound insulation is good, even at speeds of 120 km/h. The wind noise increases after that, but it is not annoying, especially around the mirrors.
The car's windows are large, and the vision is wide, both front and rear, with thin pillars. The side mirrors are a bit small, especially given the lack of a blind spot monitoring system initially before its addition, but it is not bad.
The seat is comfortable with Alcantara upholstery, and the driver's seat is narrower than the rest of the seats. The car's drawback is the lack of a Plastic parts in the car, especially in the driver and passenger doors.
SEAT also added a new set of driver assistance systems to its car, including a parking assistant, blind spot monitoring, and a travel assistant that uses the adaptive cruise control system with lane-keeping assistant to provide semi-automated driving.
Seat Arona spare parts are expensive and rarely available outside the dealership, except in a few European-focused centers, specifically Seat. There have been complaints about significantly higher prices for spare parts, especially headlights, bumpers, and other exterior parts. This is inconsistent with the car being, ultimately, a subcompact crossover for an economical family. Maintenance costs are also high, with maintenance intervals of 30, 50, 60, 90, 100, and 120,000 km.
The car continues to achieve good stability at high and medium speeds, providing drivers with great confidence in handling and driving safely. It offers good stability when entering turns, with some body roll occurring naturally in this class of car. However, this doesn't mean the car will roll over at high speeds in turns, as the XDS system is available in the FR version only, which increases control and stabilizes torque for each wheel individually.
The steering wheel also gets heavier when speeding up to give the driver confidence. The car's suspension is stiff and leans toward the sporty side, and the 18-inch tires make bumps felt for both the passenger and driver, but the car holds together over bumps and performs well in terms of stability.
The car also continues to offer a ground clearance of 19 cm, allowing it to handle bumps comfortably and well.
The SEAT Arona doesn't have a strong resale market despite its many advantages. The used car market is limited, and resale value is slow compared to other competitors. However, the facelifted Arona has a better market than the pre-facelift Arona, especially the 2021 model, which has a relatively limited market, as well as the 2022 model.
