


In a previous review, we discussed the SEAT Ateca, which was first launched in Egypt in 2017 in its first generation as the first SUV ever produced by SEAT. However, the car, which has achieved a successful journey in Egypt, received its first facelift and was introduced in Egypt in 2020, when it was launched as a 2021 model.
The SEAT Ateca facelift differs from the pre-facelift Ateca by adopting the company's new design language and adding cosmetic updates to the car's exterior design, including:
A new grille. Updated LED headlights. Redesigned fog lights. A modified front bumper. Design touches and lines of the Leon hatchback on the hood of the facelift Ateca. A new rear bumper. The car is powered by the same 1.4-liter turbo engine as before, producing 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The new transmission, a more reliable 8-speed automatic, was added to the pre-facelift version. Top speed is 197 km/h (120 mph), and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 9.0 seconds, with fuel consumption of 6.2 liters/100 km. Therefore, there is no difference between the facelift version and its predecessor in terms of engines. The changes are primarily related to the addition of new equipment and updated exterior design touches to make the car more competitive.
The engine delivers high performance and makes the car more dynamic, especially because it releases torque at earlier rpm, achieving better response, speed, and acceleration. It also continues with the 8-speed automatic transmission it was equipped with before the facelift. It's smoother to drive, with only half a second of acceleration difference compared to the DSG. It also offers better fuel economy. There's no noticeable difference between it and the DSG, but it's better because the previous transmission needed time to warm up to reach its best performance, unlike the new one.
Average fuel consumption on both internal and external roads is 6.2 liters per 100 km. One of the Ateca's most important features is its good fuel consumption. The car's four-cylinder engine can operate on only two cylinders between 40 and 120 km/h, providing maximum fuel economy. With the intelligent engine start-stop feature, it also saves fuel when the car is stopped for short periods.
The engine noise is not noticeable during normal driving, but it is ultimately a highly responsive, active engine that doesn't require prolonged pressure on the accelerator pedal to increase engine revs. The car's response is excellent, with no lag.
The SEAT Ateca facelift measures 4,381 mm in length, 18 mm longer than the pre-facelift version, which was 4,363 mm long. This translates into a larger footprint and a wider width. The width remains unchanged at 1,841 mm, while the height has increased to 1,615 mm. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,638 mm. The trunk capacity remains at 510 liters, increasing to 1,604 liters with the rear seats folded. The fuel tank capacity is 50 liters, and the vehicle weighs 1,377 kg.
The new Ateca features an improved leather steering wheel, reshaped interior door handles, new fabric and leather upholstery designs, and a 10.25-inch digital screen. The Xperience Edition includes The new heated windshield.
Seat also added an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, two new USB-C ports, multi-color ambient lighting, voice recognition, and an 8.25-inch infotainment system. SE models and above get a larger 9.2-inch central screen.
The interior design features several luxurious touches, a feature that sets it apart from its competitors. Storage space is generous, and the trunk space reaches 510 cubic liters, with the ability to increase this space by folding the rear seats. Seating spaces in the front seats and the rear bench are spacious, and comfortable for head, shoulder, and knee support. However, the materials, while good, are not the best in their class.
The comfort level in the facelift has improved over the previous model. Seating was uncomfortable due to the suspension, which tends to be sharp, and the seats themselves were uncomfortable. However, the facelift has improved, making the seats more comfortable and more suitable for the market. and the passenger.
The car's insulation is strong, isolating external sounds from the cabin. However, wind noise is noticeable at 120 km/h, but it's not annoying. The car offers a sedan or hatchback driving experience, with a low seating position and thin pillars, providing a distinctive driving experience enhanced by the car's outstanding performance.
The cabin's drawbacks are that the air conditioning is average and not strong, in addition to not achieving the best ride comfort inside, but it's better than before the facelift.
The Seat Ateca's main drawback is its high maintenance cost, unlike its competitors, some of which have somewhat lower prices. Another drawback is that the Ateca's spare parts prices are average, neither low nor extremely high, but they are more expensive than some of its Japanese and Korean competitors. It's difficult to find them quickly outside the dealership, but you should reach out to specialized dealers.
The SEAT Ateca facelift achieves strong stability and no body roll. It's a stable, sharp car with great maneuverability, reassuring the driver, especially in turns. This is achieved thanks to the XDS system, which reduces roll and provides the car with balance in turns at high speed, enabling it to quickly regain its balance and outperform competitors, enhancing its sporty and youthful performance.
However, the car's suspension is average, not as sharp and solid as the previous version before the facelift. However, it still tends to be nimble, although it is better than before the facelift.
The suspension system also isolates passengers and driver from vibrations on unpaved roads well.
