MG 6 2019 - 2023 Review

The car is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 167 hp at 5,600 rpm and 250 Nm of torque between 1,700 and 4,400 rpm. It's mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and uses a front-wheel drive system, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds (or 9 seconds according to actual tests, but the company's announced figure is 7 seconds). Average fuel consumption is approximately 6.8 liters per 100 km.

The dual-clutch transmission has some lag, hesitation, and poor response. It is slow in shifting and very slow in accelerating from a standstill to higher speeds, particularly in first and second gears. It is also slow in shifting between different gears, wasting power and reducing acceleration time between gears. It is also slow in shifting from high to low gears, which may be primarily due to an attempt to protect the transmission from overheating. The transmission is similar to a regular automatic transmission, not a dual-clutch, and this may be due to its increased reliability. It is also not smooth and is violent between gears, especially in low gears, causing jerks and vibrations in the vehicle. In some cases, the transmission overheated, but in general, there were no transmission problems.

Gas consumption is average in the car, as it tends toward sporty performance, at around 9 to 10 liters per 100 km, especially on highways. However, performance is better in city driving, unlike usual, due to the reduced intensity of the sporty performance, which consumes more fuel on highways.

The car is 4694 mm long, 1848 mm wide, and 1465 mm high, with a trunk capacity of 424 liters. It features an elegant interior design, quality leather upholstery, a sporty steering wheel, and sporty European-style gauges.

The car has spacious interiors, among the largest in its class. The front legroom is sufficient, with adjustable driving position, while the rear legroom is well-suited for three people, especially given the small transmission tunnel. The interior space is good enough for a family in the car.

The trunk isn't very large, but it's adequate, even though it's 424 liters. The large tailgate makes loading easier, and the rear bench can be folded to increase storage space. The trunk is flexible, with plenty of storage space inside the car.

However, there are some issues, such as the noise caused by poorly secured upholstery. Some materials in important areas of the car, such as the dashboard, are plastic, but overall, the materials aren't bad.

It offers good driving control, with a slightly elevated driving position and good control that facilitates viewing the road and the car's dimensions. It offers good visibility from the car, with few blind spots.

The car's sound insulation isn't very good and needs improvement. You can hear road, wind, car noise, and upholstery noise, but it's not bad either, and just needs some improvement. Some problems have appeared with cracks in the rubber insulation on the doors.

The car's air conditioning is good, but it's not as powerful as the Korean and Japanese ones, and it takes some time to cool the car.

MG 6 spare parts are readily available in Egypt, where the car has enjoyed a good local following strong promotion by the dealership and ongoing marketing campaigns, with young people flocking to the car due to its responsive sports car appeal. Spare parts are also readily available at dealerships and outside dealerships, with prices ranging from moderate to low, especially in the current climate.

The car has a MacPherson strut front suspension and a separate multi-link rear suspension. The suspension makes the driver feel bumps, especially with the large wheels in cities. The reason for this is that the suspension tends to be stiff and makes you feel clicking and bumps on the road. This stiffness is provided to increase the level of stability on the road in particular. However, this does not provide the highest level of comfort, although it is acceptable. At the same time, it provides a stable level, especially at high speeds, and entering turns is easy. However, at high speeds, turning is not very stable because the car is high off the ground, which increases the air underneath and makes it not very stable at high speeds. However, normal maneuvers are stable and distinct. The lack of an armored bottom also affects the increase in air coming under the car. The steering system is basic in the car and does not provide great driving enjoyment and is not very accurate.

The MG 6 has a good resale market in Egypt considering its current price, as it is considered a successful car that has achieved strong sales in the Egyptian market and great demand. It is a car that is widely available in the used car market and it is easy and quick to resell it, as it is considered a valuable car for its price before its current crazy price increase. Also, the continued availability of the new car in Egypt and the presence of a strong agent for it such as Al-Mansour Automotive made the resale market strong for it due to its spread and the guaranteed continued availability of spare parts and maintenance for it.

First Class

Front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), hill-start assist, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), immobilizer, ESP, an electronic parking brake, auto hold, and rear child seat anchors.

Second Class

Same equipment as above, with the addition of:

6 airbags.

Third Class

Same equipment as above .

It has excellent safety features in all categories, but its drawbacks are the few airbags in the basic category and the fact that they did not exceed 4 airbags in the higher categories before reaching 6 airbags in the second and third categories after that, with the presence of many safety features in the other different categories. The car's brakes are also good, but they needed more improvement in light of the car's high speed.
