The MG 350 is a compact saloon car with English design and Chinese identity that was introduced in Egypt in previous years. It was offered with truly outstanding specifications and equipment, with a balanced, 1.5-liter, 109-horsepower, four-cylinder engine supplied by Egyptian British Automotive (EBA), the former agent of the British company before the agency was transferred to Al-Mansour Automotive.

The new MG 350 is considered an economical, family-friendly car, offered at competitive prices in the Egyptian market compared to other cars in the same category. It is offered in three different models, all of which have a single, 1500 cc, four-cylinder engine.

This MG car features numerous additions and luxuries available in the three models, including numerous safety features such as front airbags, ABS, EBD, and CBC systems for braking, controlling brakes and distributing force, in addition to a special system to maintain vehicle stability. While driving, MG also incorporated many other features such as front fog lights, an air purification system inside the car, electric windows, a rear parking sensor, and USB ports for playing music and charging mobile phones.

The price of the 350 in its three categories was 138.7 thousand pounds for the “C” category, 123.7 thousand pounds for the “S” category, and 149.7 thousand pounds for the “D” category when the car was launched in 2013.

The car features a 1500cc VTi or turbo engine with 80 hp at 6,000 rpm for the regular version and 95 hp for the turbo version at 5,500 rpm. The former produces 135 Nm of torque and the latter 210 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 4,400 rpm. This engine, developed by the Chinese company SAIC, is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission for the former and a 6-speed transmission for the latter. The car also has a 55-liter fuel tank.

It also produces 107 hp at 6,000 rpm, with a starting price of EGP 115,000. The C version was also offered for EGP 126,000 when it was launched in Egypt. There is some talk about the car's slightly high fuel consumption, while many confirm that the car's performance is good and free of problems.

The car is 4.521 meters long, 1.788 meters wide, and 1.492 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.650 meters. The trunk has a capacity of 458 liters.

The car features a well-sealed interior with spacious interior space in the front seats and the rear bench, providing good and comfortable seating. The rear bench folds, increasing the car's storage capacity.

The distinctive interior features also include door handles, a digital gauge cluster, and a trip computer that displays a wealth of information about the car and the journey. Electric seats are also available in some higher trims, a convenient feature. The steering wheel is adjustable, along with interior airbags that provide cabin safety. Electric windows are also available, along with a distinctive and well-designed dashboard. There are also storage spaces in the doors.

Air conditioning varies depending on the trim, between automatic and digital. There are also cup holders, armrests, a premium sound system and radio with CD or DVD, a rearview camera, and Bluetooth. The car's insulation system is also good with all windows closed.

Spare Parts

Many car owners complained that there were no spare parts for the car, neither at the previous agency nor with some dealers, nor were there maintenance centers. However, the situation has begun to change regarding maintenance centers with the presence of a strong agency, Al-Mansour Automotive. However, the spare parts provided by the new agency are more for the newer models currently available, while spare parts are not available for the old models to the same extent, especially since the car has been discontinued in Egypt for a while, and the previous agent did not provide sufficient spare parts for it. However, some car spare parts may be available for it at the present time at the previous agency.

Suspension

The car comes with a MacPherson strut front suspension and an H-shaped Torsion Beam rear suspension. It offers good road stability and is high off the ground, enabling it to handle bumps and rough roads even when fully loaded. It is built on an English chassis and technology.

Resale

The car isn't considered a car with a good resale value in Egypt, as the company's previous agent weakened MG's image in the Egyptian market. However, perhaps the change of agent to Mansour Automotive has changed this perception, with newer models having a good resale value, unlike previous models, which had less spare parts availability.

However, the factors that suggest a better resale value are that its materials are good and better than many other Chinese cars on the market. Some buyers lost an average of 40% of the car's price over the four-year period after purchase, with mileage not exceeding 70,000 km. Ultimately, however, the car's market presence is limited, and its resale value isn't on par with other models, as Korean cars are considered much more affordable.
