The Hyundai Verna is one of the cars that has achieved great popularity in Egypt in recent years, as the car first appeared in 2003 in Egypt in the small compact sedan category, or what is known as sub-compact. The car was initially introduced in Egypt as an import from the Korean company before being manufactured locally later, dominating the Egyptian car market. Manufacturing began in Egypt in 2009, and it became the best-selling car in Egypt for years. It was known for its lower price than other new cars on the market, its suitability for new entrants, and its popularity among taxi drivers.

The Verna is essentially a Hyundai Accent, but in Egypt, the company renamed it Verna instead of Accent to distinguish it from other Accent models. The second and third generations of the Accent were launched in Egypt at the same time. To avoid confusion, Ghabbour decided to name the second generation of the Accent Verna, while the third generation was called New Accent.

Since the car's introduction, it has been manufactured locally, and the quality of the interior parts is lower than those imported entirely from Korea.

It came mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic transmission with front-wheel drive. The car is known for its fuel economy and low emissions.

The car's 16-valve, dual-cam engine achieves a fuel consumption of 5.5 liters per 100 km. It has a 45-liter fuel tank and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 10.5 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 170 km/h.

Although Hyundai Egypt previously confirmed that the Verna is a stable car in gears, at high speeds, and during any sudden maneuver, many car owners, in addition to collective complaints, criticize this, as the main problem with the car is floating at high speeds and instability.

Many car owners solve the stability problem by replacing the small rims with 14- or 15-inch rims, as 13-inch rims are available. Changing tires also affects the stability of the car, as they are available with low-quality tires.

It can also be said that the suspension is average, neither flexible nor soft, nor harsh nor dry, and is somewhat suitable for Egyptian roads. The rear suspension is multi-link, and some have complained that the car rubs against bumps due to the suspension, especially with the larger muffler box, which was changed to a smaller size in the 2009 models. One of the most significant drawbacks of the Hyundai Verna is its near-total lack of safety features. The car also exhibits brake defects, which are considered somewhat weak and disproportionate to the engine's capacity. When the car exceeds 100 km/h, braking power decreases significantly, but it is fairly good at normal speeds.

Brake problems are being addressed. The 15-speed brake servo has been modified to 22-speed, the pipes connecting each tire to deliver brake fluid have been replaced, and the rear drums have been replaced with drums of the same type as the front drums. All of these factors improve safety in the car.
