Fiat Punto 2005-2009

The Grande Punto is considered one of the best and most beautiful cars launched by Fiat in Egypt after the second millennium. Production of the car began in 2005. It is a mid-size sports hatchback, larger than the well-known Punto model, and features an elegant, sporty design by Italian designer Giugiaro, whose sporty touch is clearly evident inside and out. It is an Italian-made car, and the car is available in Egypt in three- and five-door versions, with a version with a glass roof and another with sports rims, providing a wide range of options. As mentioned, it is a supermini car, manufactured starting in 2005. It is considered the third generation of the Fiat Punto and was first introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in August 2005. In 2009, the Punto Evo was introduced to be sold alongside the Grande Punto. In 2012, both models were discontinued and replaced with the Punto name alone, and the Grande Punto was manufactured in Brazil and India.

The car was available with several engines, including a 1200cc engine, which is not available in Egypt. This 8-valve engine produces 64 hp and 102 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. This version has a top speed of 155 km/h and accelerates in 14.5 seconds.

The Egyptian engine in the car is a 1400cc, 4-cylinder engine that delivers powerful performance with great fuel economy. It produces 77 hp and 115 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. With the car's light weight and this power, its engine performs well, providing reasonable acceleration for this class. The car accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 13.2 seconds, and consumes 5.4 liters of fuel per 100 km.

There is a third 1400cc engine with 94 hp and 135 Nm of torque, a top speed of 178 km/h, and acceleration in 11.4 seconds and a 6-speed transmission, available in models starting in 2007.

This makes the car a fuel-efficient car, but the engine's traction and acceleration are good for city driving at normal speeds. However, acceleration at speeds above 100 km/h is poor, as the car is designed for city driving, with a top speed of 170 km/h.

There's also a problem with the engine being sealed from below, which causes some sediment and debris to reach the engine, which can lead to problems. Therefore, it's important to seal the engine from below. The engine provides good practical performance for the car, but not as powerful as expected, due to its limited power.

The car is 4 meters long, 1.6 meters wide, and 1.4 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.5 meters. Therefore, the car offers more interior space for greater comfort and luxury for all passengers. It is larger than the traditional Punto model, and it also provides ample storage space in the rear trunk, according to the company. However, its capacity to accommodate passengers remains insufficient, according to car owners. The rear part of the car is a hatchback, so the rear seats are uncomfortable, and the legroom in the rear seats is somewhat narrow. The car accommodates four passengers, and the problem is more evident for tall and larger passengers.

The car comes with an interior made of reinforced plastic, and it comes with distinctive interior fittings and numerous interior comfort and safety features that make the driver comfortable, and the steering wheel is easy to control.

Spare Parts

50%

Spare parts are available in many places and are durable if the car is maintained. However, their high price is a drawback, but they are durable spare parts in the end, meaning they last for a long time. However, complaints about their price are what affect the car and its owners start looking for Chinese or Taiwanese spare parts to install in the car instead of paying large sums of money for car parts. Also, their maintenance is easy and available.

Suspension

80%

The car provides high maneuverability and stability in turns and at different speeds, while being a comfortable car for passengers. The car's suspension is close to that of Alfa Romeo models modified by Fiat, and therefore it is more capable of dealing with Egyptian roads well, with the stability known in this car. The spare parts available for the suspension are strong and able to endure for long periods, but some complain that the car's suspension is a bit dry and makes the driver feel the road, but this is not a general complaint.

The car has been available in Egypt since 2008 in several trims, including the Manual Pop for 99,000 Egyptian pounds, the Easy for 115,000 Egyptian pounds, the Easy Sport for 119,000 Egyptian pounds, the Long for 125,000 Egyptian pounds, and the Long Panorama for 135,000 Egyptian pounds.

This car is one of the best-selling cars, as Italian cars, especially the Punto and Grand Punto, are known for their good manufacturing. Therefore, given its name and features, it doesn't lose much when resold. It is a sought-after car and has its customers in the used car market.
