Chevrolet Cruze 2010-2019

The Chevrolet Cruze was introduced to the world in 2008 and was introduced in Egypt in 2010. The car competed strongly in the upper-mid-range sedan category. This trend continued into 2016 with the launch of the new model. Despite being an older model, the car boasts a bold and powerful design, with LED headlights and sporty lines, giving it a sporty appearance. The price of the Chevrolet Cruze increased by 16.3% in the local market between 2013 and 2016, reaching EGP 185,000, compared to EGP 159,000 in 2013 and 2014, and EGP 155,000 in 2015, an increase of EGP 26,000. For example, the car achieved sales of 1,218 units during the first four months of 2016, compared to 389 units during the same period in 2015. An increase of 829 units.

In 2016, Al Mansour Automotive Group announced the launch of its new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, a new look that differs from previous versions of the car. The new Cruze features a new grille, completely redesigned headlights, a new front bumper, and a metal grille flanked on both sides by fog lights. It also comes equipped with LED daytime running lights, and improvements have also extended to the hood.

The car's weight was reduced by approximately 115 kilograms to make it more aerodynamic. However, the manufacturer didn't neglect safety, as the car's "sweeping" was reduced by approximately 25 mm to make it more stable on the road.

The car's price increased after and before the flotation in 2017 as follows:

The Cruze Automatic increased from EGP 185,000 to EGP 279,000

The Cruze High Line increased from EGP 196,000 to EGP 299,000

Reviews - Chevrolet Cruze 2010-2019

Motor

The Chevrolet Cruze is powered by a 1.6-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine developed by General Motors. This is a conventional engine producing 116 hp at 6,200 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It produces 155 Nm of torque and front-wheel drive. It consumes 7.3 liters per 100 km with a 60-liter fuel tank. The car's top speed is 185 km/h.

It can be said that the engine struggled at various stages to unleash and demonstrate the car's power. It also didn't receive sufficient assistance from the 6-speed automatic transmission.

The transmission is distinguished by its ability to make the car more economical, as it corrects engine operation and reduces its performance to achieve fuel economy, which results in lower fuel consumption and smoother shifts. However, this ultimately slows the car's acceleration to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 11 seconds. When the car's speed is increased for better performance, the idea of fuel economy is negated, especially given the car's heavy weight of one and a half tons, while its power is 116 hp. This doesn't help the engine perform strongly, which is not conducive to fuel economy, increasing fuel consumption. When the car was first introduced in 2010, it was known for engine and transmission problems. These problems persisted until 2013, when the company addressed them somewhat by adding a new engine and transmission. The problem of the car's engine overheating was also resolved through the use of a special radiator. In conclusion, the car's performance is average, not sporty. It is a fuel-efficient and economical car when driven normally, but when the accelerator pedal is pressed harder, fuel consumption increases. As for the engine and transmission combined, their performance is average. The sound of the engine and transmission is quiet, and the insulation is good. Cars like the Elantra also outperform the Cruze in terms of towing capacity and the inability to accelerate strongly.

The car has an old-fashioned interior with a mix of black and white. The car is well-organized, and the driving position is sporty, with the driver sitting in a comfortable, athletic position. The driver also has an attractive sports steering wheel with blue gauges and a red indicator.

The car's drawbacks include many inflexible plastic parts, especially those on the dashboard. The door panels are also made of plastic, with leather accents in some areas of the interior.

The driver's seat is stiff and inflexible, while the rear seats are narrow, causing rear passengers' legs to collide with the front seats. The seats are also low, and the gear tunnel in the rear seats is high, causing inconvenience to those sitting in the back seat. The rear seat is not suitable for families.

The car is practical, and the trunk can hold up to 400 liters. The trunk door opens at a wide angle, and the car's loading lip is not high, making loading easier. The car also offers ample storage space in the cabin, including the console, dashboard, and other storage areas in the rear, in addition to cup holders. The car's drawback is that the rear bench seat cannot be folded.

The interior has received numerous changes in the new look, starting with the dashboard, which is now more spacious and attractive, as well as the steering wheel, which is equipped with all the control buttons.

Car owners said that among the car's shortcomings are the materials used in the interior, which may look beautiful but do not achieve the desired function.

Spare Parts

80%

It can be said that operating expenses, spare parts, and maintenance costs for the car at the dealership are normal and not high. The cost of spare parts and expenses is similar to that of Korean cars, and their spare parts are readily available and cheaper than European cars.

Maintenance prices for 2017 Chevrolet Cruze models during that period were average, ranging between EGP 1,146 and EGP 9,096, for distances ranging between 10,000 and 100,000 kilometers. The cost of 10,000-kilometer maintenance is approximately EGP 1,146, which includes changing the engine oil and oil filter. Maintenance costs for 20,000 kilometers are estimated at EGP 2,276; 30,000 kilometers at EGP 1,609; 40,000 and 80,000 kilometers at EGP 2,626; 60,000 kilometers at EGP 9,096; and 90,000 kilometers at EGP 1,557. And 100,000 kilometers, to 2276 pounds.

Suspension

70%

The car features a sporty suspension, suitable for running, and its ability to handle turns. However, the car's drawbacks are that it struggles to handle bumps and knocks in cities, as the suspension is dry and not flexible, especially the front seats, which suffer more because they are dry. The car's stability comes at the expense of its ability to handle bumps and road imperfections.

The car enjoys good stability, as it weighs one and a half tons. Therefore, it is stable at high speeds, easy to steer, and can enter turns quickly. Although the steering is comfortable, easy, and enjoyable in traffic, on the road, the car's response is slow due to its weight, especially at high speeds.

Some car owners confirmed that its most significant drawback is its limited ground clearance, which makes it susceptible to strong bumps.

Resale

50%

The car is considered value for money, offering features and benefits at the lowest price in its class. However, the car's drawback is that reselling it is not easy, and sellers can lose a significant portion of its price compared to other cars. A car like the Elantra is considered better for resale than the Cruze.

Older models were also known for overheating quickly and weak air conditioning. Most of the Cruze's problems were associated with older models, while the company has dealt better with newer models, which have lessened the severity of these problems. Consequently, engine problems have affected the car's image in the resale process.

Security

70%

The car has achieved a 5-star European and American safety rating, having passed most international tests, such as the KNCAP front and side crash test.

. It features numerous safety features, including:
