The Explosion is a mid-size SUV first introduced in China in 2005. It is a small, five-door SUV. The car was known in China as the 2008, and an improved version was later introduced as the 5008. It was known in markets outside China as the Explosion, Nomad, or Hunter. The 2008 was introduced in China to coincide with the 2008 Olympic Games. The car was manufactured using parts and tools from the first generation Daihatsu Terios. Zotye purchased the assembly line and components for the Japanese car from Daihatsu and used them to manufacture the Explosion after Daihatsu launched the second generation Terios. Zotye was also one of the companies that manufactured the Daihatsu Terios in China, so it was easy to convert it to the Explosion. The car differed from the Terios in appearance, particularly in terms of the design of the front grille, but the rear portion was identical to the Terios. The improved version of the Explosion was called the T200 in China. In 2013, the car's interior was updated again in 2016. The car was introduced in Egypt in 2008 at a price of approximately 60,000 Egyptian pounds.
