Volvo XC60 2022-2022

The Volvo XC60 is a luxury compact SUV suitable for families and businessmen. The second generation was launched globally in 2017 and in Egypt in 2018. A facelift was introduced locally in 2022, and the company is awaiting the introduction of a new generation. The Volvo XC60 facelift combines elegant design and purposeful engineering, resulting in a distinctive choice in the luxury SUV segment. The car is reasonably fuel-efficient and offers a comfortable driving experience for everyone behind the wheel. Priority is also given to technology, driver assistance, and safety features. The car has received updates to its infotainment system, including a new infotainment system with Android Auto, Google apps, and services. The engines have been updated to a hybrid version, and the exterior design has been updated with a new front grille and different front bumpers with chrome accents. More colors have also been added to the car and new wheel designs have been added. The rear bumper also received minor changes with special chrome accents.

It was introduced for the first time in Egypt in three trim levels at its debut as follows:

- Momentum, priced at 1,010,000 EGP.

- Inscription, priced at 1,210,000 EGP.

- R-Design, priced at 1,210,000 EGP.

The 2022 Volvo XC60 facelift features a B5 hybrid system with a mild hybrid engine powered by a 48-volt battery. The engine is a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive for the entry-level model and all-wheel drive for the higher two models. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with 249 hp and 350 Nm of torque, producing 7.0 seconds for front-wheel drive and 7.1 seconds for all-wheel drive. Fuel consumption is estimated at 8.3 to 9.6 liters per 100 km, making it an average car in terms of fuel consumption and running costs. The car comes with an active engine that delivers good performance, especially given the availability of a turbocharger, along with adequate power and torque for its size and weight, which is evident in its good acceleration figures. The only difference in the car that may raise some limited concerns is the hybrid system, which many Egyptians are not yet accustomed to.

The latest version in Egypt measures 4,708 mm in length, 2,117 mm in width with mirrors open, and 1,653 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,865 mm, and the trunk space is 483 liters. The cabin has undergone numerous changes compared to the pre-facelift version, including a new Android-based infotainment system that allows the driver to directly access many important applications such as Google Maps, Google Assistant, and voice assistance, in addition to more luxurious and high-quality interior materials.

The cabin offers comfort and quietness, with seats designed to perfectly complement the human body, quiet engines, and a sound system that allows you to enjoy your favorite music.

With the distinctive interior design and materials that reflect Volvo's value, the Volvo XC60 feels like owning and driving a Cadillac. The quiet and comfortable cabin also provides comfort for adult passengers in both rows. Clean lines and high-quality materials add a distinct Scandinavian flavor to the XC60's cabin. Interior storage space is limited, and the rear storage area is small compared to competitors, especially the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. This makes the Volvo less practical, but it's not far behind in storage figures, and the car's appeal may make up for this difference. Another drawback some see in the car is the Google-based infotainment interface, which some don't like the look and design of, but it works well enough, even if it doesn't look particularly attractive.

Spare Parts

70%

Spare parts for the Volvo XC60 facelift are available at the dealership, but they are scarce outside of it, given that the car hasn't achieved widespread popularity. Maintenance requires specialists and is considered difficult and very expensive outside of the dealership, which is typical for this high-priced category. It's expected that maintenance centers will be limited due to the limited availability of this category of cars and their need for trained personnel to prevent exposing them to problems at a high price.

Suspension

90%
The facelift version has a ground clearance of 211 mm, enabling it to handle Egyptian roads comfortably and safely. It also features a strong, lightweight, and advanced suspension that provides the right balance between comfort and control. The car's dynamic handling and driving excellence are achieved through a balance between precision, control, and comfort, especially over long distances. It features an advanced double-wishbone front suspension system, and an innovative pivoting rear suspension system that works with the front suspension for easy control and responsiveness throughout all driving stages. All-wheel drive (AWD) technology with Instant Traction™ is available to increase driving stability on all roads, surfaces, and in all weather conditions. The XC60 handles corners well and feels glued to the road while driving, allowing for confident changes in direction. However, it doesn't offer the same driving excitement and stability as some competitors, such as the Porsche Macan. It is good at handling rough roads and provides comfort and quietness on smooth roads.

Resale

70%

The resale value of the Volvo XC60 facelift is weak due to its high price, the high cost of spare parts and maintenance, and the fact that Volvo cars are not as widely available as their competitors. Therefore, resale value is considered better in favor of Mercedes and BMW. The Volvo XC60 facelift competes in Egypt with the BMW X3, Porsche Macan, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Mercedes GLC, and Audi Q5. The hybrid system is still unfamiliar to a large segment of people in Egypt, but it can be said that the segment that buys luxury cars has no objections to such systems, which have often accompanied luxury cars in recent years. The car is also still new in its facelift version in Egypt, so its resale market still needs some time to emerge, taking into account the usual resale market for the pre-facelift version, which did not achieve strong success and has a limited niche market.

Security

100%

The Volvo XC60 has been awarded a 5-star European safety rating and offers numerous safety and driver assistance features. The facelift also features improved safety systems, including the latest driver alert system, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and more advanced radar and parking sensors in the front and rear, which continuously scan the road to provide the highest possible level of safety. This is in addition to a new adaptive cruise control system that enables the car to steer itself in the second and third trim levels.

In addition to these, globally recognized electronic braking and stability control systems are also available, as are lane-keeping assist and lane departure warning systems, which are driving assistants in the second and third trim levels. There are also seven airbags around the passenger compartment, up to 11 airbags, along with child seat anchor points. It also offers special safety packages that provide automatic braking up to 60 km/h and a blind spot monitoring system.
