The eighth generation of the Volkswagen Passat was launched in Egypt by Egyptian Commercial and Automotive from 2017 to 2022 and is currently on sale, receiving a facelift in 2020. The Volkswagen Passat competes with models such as the Opel Insignia in Egypt, which has already been discontinued, in addition to the Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and Skoda Superb. The new eighth generation of the car features a modern design similar to the company's latest models, with sporty touches.

The eighth generation was introduced for the first time in Egypt in three categories:

The first category, the P1, was initially priced at EGP 540,000.

The second category, the P2, was priced at EGP 580,000.

The third category, the P3, was priced at EGP 630,000.

Later, it received a new equipment package, including fully digital gauges instead of the traditional analog ones, leather upholstery instead of fabric, 17-inch wheels instead of 16-inch wheels, and full LED headlights. The Passat continues with the same engine lineup, which includes a 1.4-liter turbo TSI engine with 125 hp at 5,000-6,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,400-4,000 rpm, connected to the front wheels via a 7-speed dry DSG dual-clutch transmission.

The Volkswagen Passat comes with a 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 125 hp at 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque from 1,400 to 4,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and has a top speed of 208 km/h. The Passat consumes an average of 5.1 liters per 100 kilometers. It also has a 70-liter fuel tank. The car's performance is good, its engine is dynamic, and there are no complaints about the engine. The problems were only related to the transmission. Despite the improvements it has received, Egyptians continue to have concerns about the DSG transmission due to its previous problems and the difficulties it encountered in repairing and maintaining the vehicle at the dealership. The transmission is also dry, which is why many Egyptians do not prefer it. Overall, there are no complaints about the car's engine, as its performance is good. It also achieves good fuel economy, as its fuel consumption and operating costs are average in Egypt.

The Volkswagen Passat is 4,667 mm long, 1,832 mm wide, and 1,747 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. These dimensions are considered large for a car, providing it with good interior spaciousness and the ability to accommodate five passengers in the cabin. It also provides good headroom for passengers in the front and rear, including 1,034 mm and 964 mm, respectively. Legroom in the front is 1,045 mm, and in the rear, 973 mm. The car comes with a trunk with a storage capacity of 586 liters. It is considered a spacious car from the inside and is suitable for seating five passengers, but in the rear, the high transmission tunnel is difficult to navigate. The good size is also flawed by being smaller than the Skoda Superb, but this does not significantly affect the level of comfort provided by the car.

The car is equipped with an electronic stability control program, anti-lock brakes, brake assist, a traction control system, an electronic differential lock, three-point seatbelts, hill-start assist, an electric parking brake, a parking distance control system with an audible warning of obstacles in front and behind the car, rain wipers, rain sensors, a heat-insulated windshield, wheel locks with additional anti-theft protection, and an immobilizer.

جاءت بكل ما سبق بالاضافة الي علاوة على إضاءة داخلية متطورة وغطاء جلدي فاخر للمقاعد مع إمكانية تعديل وضع مقعد السائق على 14 وضعاً مختلفاً مع عجلة إحتياطية من سبائك الألومنيوم مقاس 6.SJ X 16 وإطار مقاس 215 / 60 R17 وحلي من الكروم على النوافذ الجانبية ومصابيح LED أمامية.
