Skoda Octavia 1997-2009

The Skoda Octavia A4 is a small family saloon car manufactured by the Czech Republic-based Skoda. Since 1996, the company has been producing Octavia models in general. The car is available in sedan and station wagon versions, and nearly 5 million units have been sold worldwide. The Octavia A4 is based on the Volkswagen A4 platform, which makes it similar to the Audi TT, Audi A3, Volkswagen Bora, Beetle, Seat Leon, and Seat Toledo, all of which are based on the same platform. Engines available in the Octavia A4 range from 1.4 to 2 liters, both gasoline and diesel, worldwide.

The Octavia A4 enjoys great reliability, which is mainly linked to the car's 1600 cc, 4-cylinder, 8-valve, SOHC, gasoline engine, which is available with a manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. It is characterized by its smooth steering and easy handling. The engine comes with a power of 101 hp, provides good traction and excellent performance on the roads. It is available with a torque of 148 Nm, which enables the car to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 14.6 seconds before reaching its top speed of 187 km/h. It also features a special gasoline evaporation system to utilize all the fuel inside the combustion chambers. The car's engine also doesn't make much noise while driving, and it also has front-wheel drive.

The car achieves high fuel efficiency, with an average of 5 liters per 100 km for the manual version. However, in the automatic version, consumption rises to 11.7 liters per 100 km. It's a distinctively practical car with a strong and durable exterior, but its drawbacks are its heavy weight compared to the engine and horsepower it produces.

The car has a spacious interior that can accommodate five people. However, the rear seat is somewhat narrow due to the large sofa and the large trunk space. Therefore, taller passengers have difficulty sitting in the back seat due to the limited legroom. The rear seat can be folded to increase storage space, while the trunk space is very large. However, the drawback is the limited storage space inside the car.

In the cabin, the dashboard looks old and outdated, which is a drawback of the car. It also includes only one airbag for the driver. However, its advantages include distinctive equipment, most notably the car's powerful air conditioning with central locking, power steering, front and rear electric windows, electric mirrors, front and rear fog lights, a computer to display vehicle data, and ABS and EBD braking systems with a cassette player.

Spare Parts

80%

As for car spare parts, they are durable and last for a long time, but their prices are somewhat high. Therefore, it is preferable to buy a car in good condition to avoid spending a lot on spare parts. They are also slightly more expensive than some other Japanese and German cars.

There are many specialists in car maintenance, so finding someone to maintain it is not a problem, provided they have experience in maintaining such cars and are well-known for their good reputation. Car maintenance at the dealership is also very expensive, but ultimately, the car has few defects, so the need for maintenance is not constantly required.

Suspension

The car's suspension is considered good by its users and is able to withstand Egyptian roads. Therefore, it can be considered a heavy-duty suspension and does not make those sitting inside feel the bumps that the car goes over. However, it is not suitable for those who prefer a flexible suspension because it is a strong "dry" suspension. It is also a stable car on the road even at high speeds and the car's height from the ground is appropriate. It also has regular 15-inch wheels. The car's front suspension is McPherson.

Regarding the car's resale value, it's unique because it's a Czech car manufactured by Volkswagen, which makes many of its components German. Its reputation plays a major role in its popularity, and its price is better than other cars in its class, especially Korean ones. The car's resale value is considered good and won't result in significant losses for buyers.
