Lada 2107 2000-2007

The Lada 2107 is known by different names, including the Lada Riva in Britain and the Lada Nova in Europe, as well as the 2104 and 2105. It is a compact car manufactured by the Russian company AvtoVAZ starting in 1980 in the former Soviet Union and appeared in European countries in the early 1980s as a sedan and station wagon before the brand became known as Lada. This car was based on the Fiat 124. Production of the car ceased in Russia between 2010 and 2012, but continued in Egypt until 2015. It is considered one of the best-selling cars after the Volkswagen Beetle and the Ford Model T, and is one of the longest-running cars on the production line.

It is a powerful yet economical family car. It was manufactured in Egypt, along with Ukraine, Russia, and Kazakhstan. It was offered as a four-door sedan, a five-door station wagon, and a pickup truck. It is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive vehicle. Production began in Egypt in 2000, with production beginning at the Suzuki factory in Cairo. The 2110 joined it in 2006. After production of this car ceased, it was replaced by the Lada Granta, which is still in service today.

It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with reverse gear. The car is rear-wheel drive and achieves a fuel consumption rate of 6.9 liters per 100 km, which is good for gasoline consumption.

The car is available in Egypt with a 1600cc carburetor that uses 80-octane gasoline, while the Russian version is a 1500cc injection engine that uses 92-octane gasoline. Assembly is slow and takes time to complete, and the engine noise is harsh and loud.

The downside is that the cabin's insulation from outside heat is poor, which affects the efficiency of the car's air conditioning. The car's steering wheel is heavy, and some people replace it with a power steering. The car's height is also a problem for tall people, and the solution is to lower the seat height.

Spare parts for the car are widely available, inexpensive, and easy to maintain. The carburetor versions are easy to maintain.

The car comes with a chain belt that doesn't need to be replaced. Other external spare parts are inexpensive compared to similar cars like the Verna and Logan, especially the Barbaris and headlights. Owners agree that it needs regular maintenance, especially every six months to tighten the suspension and change the oil and spark plugs to keep it in good condition.

The water pump also needs to be changed regularly, and there's a problem with the car overheating. Its spare parts are widely available and inexpensive, but they need to be replaced regularly. Russian spare parts last longer. For example, the Russian radiator is metal, while the Egyptian one is fiberglass.

It requires regular lubrication of the balls and crown, and checking the oil in the transmission and crown every six months or 10,000 km. It also needs to replace the temperature sensor at 90 degrees.

A strong car that can withstand heavy use, especially bumps, but the front suspension needs to be constantly tightened and periodically checked. Also, at high speeds, the car may suffer from complete instability, according to some car owners. However, this is debatable, with others confirming that it is one of the most stable cars, and that increasing the suspension height is what causes it to float.

The car also has a dry suspension, but the solution to this problem is to install a steering wheel handler, which suspension specialists can do easily and at a reasonable cost. Stability also increases with increased load, because the car's load is high on the engine, and the more passengers on the seat or the more items in the trunk, the car becomes horizontal, so stability increases at the expense of speed.

The car is durable, reliable and cheap. It is still in demand in the used car market with a good resale price if the car is in good condition. There are many people who, despite the backward technology, equipment and old design of the car, even though its models are newer, prefer it because they are looking for the durability that these cars enjoy first and foremost, which makes some of them look for buying the newer Lada Granta in terms of shape and equipment. In the end, it can be said that it is a practical car that serves its purpose efficiently, but it is not suitable for people looking for a modern look, luxuries and comfort.
