Hyundai Excel 1989-1995

The Hyundai Excel was produced from 1989 until 1995 as a distinctive sedan. The car was offered worldwide with various engines, including 1300 and 1500 cc, and was equipped with various manual and automatic transmissions. The car is considered a replacement for the Pony models, which is considered the first generation of the Excel and was available in the 1980s. The Excel was initially introduced to the American market, where it helped make Hyundai a well-known company there. This car has an attractive shape and a good size, and is available in two versions: a sedan and a hatchback.

The car comes with a 1500cc carburetor engine for Egyptian versions and injection for imported versions of the car, or for those modifying the car engine with a 1500cc injection imported version and a 1300cc carburetor. Therefore, carburetor engines are easy to repair and do not consume much fuel. Car owners are advised to replace the carburettor with an imported one if a defect occurs, as it is much better.

There are Egyptian and Gulf models, and the Gulf versions are certainly better equipped than the Egyptian ones. This car has a smooth engine, which is considered somewhat quiet and does not make much noise. The engine is easy to find, especially the original Korean ones. It is also economical in fuel consumption. Although the 1300cc engine is small, it is suitable for the car and acceptable. The car is suitable, comfortable, and smooth to drive, according to the consensus of car owners.

The car is available with a 4-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed manual, which is the most common in the Excel versions, whether 1300 or 1500 cc. There is also a 4-speed automatic transmission, but many people do not accept it due to its flaws.

The car has a good length, as it is based on a wheelbase of 2.383 meters, and a length of 4.282 meters for the sedan version and 4.107 meters for the hatchback version, with a width of 1.608 meters and a height of 1.384 meters. The car has a spacious, family-friendly interior that easily accommodates passengers and offers many luxuries. It also comes with a flexible steering wheel and comfortable rear seats with adequate legroom for rear passengers.

The car's interior features numerous features, including a flexible and easy-to-move power steering wheel, a central locking system, electric windows, a fuel tank opening, and a trunk lid. This is available in the 1500cc version, while the 1300cc version does not have the same features. The trunk is also large and can accommodate a large amount of luggage.

The car's only drawback is that it has poor insulation, so those inside the cabin can clearly hear outside noise.

Spare Parts

It also has cheap, durable, and fairly widespread spare parts. There are complaints about some shortages in car spare parts, such as the interior and exterior fiberglass. The age of the car in the market has started to make its spare parts scarce, and therefore, a car like the Accent could have more widespread spare parts. Repairing the car is easy because it is not complicated, and car owners who have some understanding of repair can do it themselves.

Suspension

30%

The car features simple suspension in the front and rear, with limited parts compared to other cars. The car's drawbacks are that its endurance is weak, especially over bumps. The car is also generally weak in terms of its body, which is low and close to the ground, and thus suffers greatly from bumps. The car's suspension is flexible but weak and constantly needs to be tightened and angled, especially on dilapidated Egyptian roads. The chassis is also weak and may sometimes break or crack, specifically at the shock absorber. Some people use iron poles from below to help support the chassis.

The car is considered unstable on the road, especially at speeds. After exceeding 100 km/h, it becomes completely unstable on the road.

The car is considered one of the used cars with a reasonable price in the market, and it is also economical on fuel and can use 80 octane gasoline. However, what affects its price is that the car’s exterior structure is weak, as the sheet metal has very large complaints, especially the hood, which affects its resale price, especially if it is worn out. The car needs a calm driver to handle the roads and bumps.

Ultimately, it's a practical and good car, especially for first-time buyers. It's easy to drive and has large mirrors that make it easy to see the road and surrounding corners. Its air conditioning is good, fuel-efficient, and its lighting is good. It's also spacious, which makes it in demand. Despite the car's many problems and flaws, it's easy to sell due to its fuel economy, practicality, and reasonable price, which always makes anyone thinking of buying a car to start their life prefer it over cars like the Shahin. The resale price is currently lower than before due to the car's age and the search for newer models. Therefore, for those buying a car, it has a good price, but for those selling, its price has declined, and it's difficult to use it to buy a more expensive car.
