Geely Egypt introduced the Emgrand 7 to the Egyptian market around 2012. It's a compact car produced by Emgrand, a division of Geely. Known as the Geely Emgrand, production began in 2009 as the 2010 model and continues to this day. A revised version has been released. The car is considered one of China's most important export vehicles and has achieved significant sales in Egypt, competing with Korean Hyundai and Japanese Nissan.
This car has adopted a safe design and is considered one of the most affordable cars in its class. Consequently, it has achieved widespread popularity in Egypt, especially since it is authorized by Ghabbour Automotive, which has contributed to increased sales volume due to people's confidence in the ease of maintenance and spare parts availability.

The car is powered by a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC, CVVT engine with 107 hp at 6,000 to 6,200 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 4,000 to 4,400 rpm. The car has a top speed of 165 km/h (105 mph) and a fuel compression ratio of 10.3. Fuel consumption is less than 6 liters per 100 km (98 mph). The car is mated to a five-speed manual transmission with one forward and one reverse gear. The car is front-wheel drive.
The car has a plastic engine cover and a large space between the radiator and the engine, providing some protection for the engine in the event of a front-end accident. The car also comes with a 70-amp battery and a 50-liter fuel tank.
The car has decent average fuel consumption, but there are issues with its ability to tow and accelerate well. Therefore, it can't be said to be fast or powerful enough on the road. The problem, as some car owners say, appears on bridge ramps, but the transmission is fine.
There are general complaints about numerous problems with the car, its maintenance, and the dealership, but it cannot be said that spare parts are not available, as they are widely available inside and outside the dealership, and there are no complaints about a shortage of spare parts for the car, and their prices are reasonable, and there are no complaints about their high price.
The car has a suspension that includes a front MacPherson suspension and a rear suspension with a torsion beam and torque arm. The car is comfortable to a good extent on bumps and during turns. The suspension is also soft, but to a degree that does not make it special because its height from the ground is not high, and therefore it is not able to work on Egyptian roads full of bumps perfectly. The height of the car from the ground decreases with the presence of passengers inside it, and therefore its friction with bumps becomes expected. The stability of the car at high speeds above 120 km is not good either, but at normal speeds it is stable and well balanced.
It can be said that the Geely Emgrand 7 is a very popular car in the Egyptian market and has achieved large sales, despite all the problems surrounding it, but the car’s resale is good in the market, but after a strong inspection due to many fears of various problems in the car related to rust, especially in the 2014 models, and due to many problems inside the car and many people talking about its exposure to accidents due to the breakage of its axles or wheels, and all of these problems may turn some people to other cars, but the presence of the Emgrand 7 is not to be underestimated in the used market, and whoever owns it can sell it normally and at a good price.
Despite its problems, the car received a 4-star rating in European crash and safety tests, although this is not enough for cars of this class. The car is available with many safety features, such as:
Anti-lock brakes (ABS)
Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD)
