The Fiat Punto is a distinctive hatchback that has been present in the Egyptian market for a long time. The third generation of the car was introduced in 2005, followed by a facelift in 2009, followed by another facelift in 2012, bearing the Punto name only. The car remained available in Egypt until 2019. The version in question is the second facelift, which ran from 2012 to 2019. It was available in Egypt in three trim levels, with prices ranging from EGP 222,000 to EGP 260,000 when it was introduced as a new car. The third trim level then disappeared, leaving the first trim level, priced from EGP 222,000 to EGP 245,000. The car continued to be offered in Egypt until 2019, when the price of the car reached EGP 203,900 for the manual Easy version, while the second automatic trim was priced at EGP 232,900. It was introduced with Fiat's new agent in Egypt, Dynamics Auto, and before that, Omatra.

At the beginning of 2019, with the full implementation of the European partnership, the price of the first Easy category decreased to EGP 203,900 from EGP 214,900, a reduction of EGP 11,000. The price of the second category became EGP 232,900 from EGP 244,900, a reduction of EGP 12,000.

The car's engine is considered economical, making it recommended for those looking to save fuel. The engine also performs its intended purpose; it provides good responsiveness and has plenty of power, but don't expect it to perform quickly enough to propel the car to high speeds, as it has limited power at just 77 hp. This isn't noticeable in cities or congested areas, but its effect becomes apparent when driving on highways, where you won't reach high speeds while the engine is being pushed hard to extract its ultimate power, which doesn't appear until 6,000 rpm.

The car's transmission is semi-automatic, a middle ground between a manual and an automatic. The car also has a clutch, which can provide the driving pleasure of a manual with its fuel economy and the comfort of an automatic. However, the transmission is considered somewhat slow in shifting and is not very reliable. It requires knowledge of how to operate it, as the main complaint of car owners is the transmission, which they see as having major problems because it is neither manual nor automatic. It also requires maintenance, like a manual transmission, which is expensive.

He also explained that new spare parts are much more expensive, especially for the automatic version, and accessories are even more expensive, as the price of a used imported headlight is 750 EGP, while a new one is 1,500 EGP, and can reach up to 4,000 EGP at the dealership. He pointed out that Fiat Punto spare parts are widely available, especially in Ezbet Shalaby.

As for the car's suspension, it's neither stiff nor flexible, as it's somewhere between the two. Therefore, it's not considered a tiring car to sit in or drive, and the seats don't offer a high level of comfort. This somewhat affects the comfort of sitting over bumps, as it makes the road feel intense, especially at high speeds.

The car offers good stability when driving on curves and at high speeds, but there is a degree of body roll during high speeds and curves.

Ibrahim Abu Adam, a Fiat spare parts dealer, confirmed that the Fiat Punto's price is good for its capabilities, ranging from 70,000 to 150,000 or 160,000 Egyptian pounds, depending on the model.

The car is considered good value for money and is very suitable for girls. It's suitable for working in the city, has average safety features, a limited range of luxuries, and has a youthful appeal. However, the car doesn't offer good resale value, as sales are slow due to the transmission's reputation, and resale value isn't good in many cases due to people's fear of buying it because of the transmission.
