Dodge Dart 2013-2014

The Dodge Dart is an American car suitable for small families and young people. It was introduced from 1959 to 1976 and continued in markets outside America after that. It started as a large-sized car, then a medium-sized car, then a compact car during the sixties and seventies. The Dart name was revived as a compact car from 2012 to 2016. This front-wheel-drive vehicle was manufactured under the Fiat Chrysler Group name and known by Fiat as the Viaggio. It was Dodge's first compact car since the Neon was discontinued in 2005. The Dodge Dart was introduced in three trim levels in Egypt in 2013, with the SXT, Rally, and Limited versions. Prices ranged from EGP 240,000 to EGP 275,000. These models were available through official dealers in Egypt: Abu Ghali Motors, Ezz El Arab Automotive, Nile Engineering, and El Tarek. The model continued until 2014 only. The car is an American car with streamlined features and an elegant appearance, designed for the 21st century. It has a strong, hot American character with exciting sporty features. It boasts exceptional levels of interior spaciousness, technology, safety, and the latest engines, and competes globally in the category. It's tough to compete with cars like the Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla, and Honda Civic in the US market. However, it was introduced in Egypt to compete with higher-spec models like the Skoda Octavia, and it shares many components with the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

The car didn't achieve great success in Egypt. An example of this is its sales in the seven months after its introduction: only 48 cars were sold, distributed among 15 in February, 6 in March, 7 in April, 8 in May, 9 in June, and 3 in July. This is a downward trend, meaning a decline in sales of cars that were already few in the first place.

The Dodge Dart was introduced in Egypt with a 1.4-liter, 4-cylinder, 16-valve, electronically injected, Turbo MultiAir engine, producing 160 hp at 5,500 rpm, a 6.5-liter fuel tank, and 250 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. It also features front-wheel drive. Fuel consumption is estimated at 5.7 liters per 100 km, which is relatively economical. It is mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and accelerates in 8 seconds.

The engine performs well, given the availability of the turbo, but it's not particularly sporty due to its small size compared to other Dodge models with larger engines. However, it comes with an economical system due to its relatively small engine and fuel efficiency, in line with the growing demand for small engines by customers in Egypt in particular and globally in general. The car is characterized by strong acceleration from the turbo engine, with less transmission performance than the engine.

Despite its compact size, the Dodge Dart boasts a spacious cabin with plenty of equipment and safety features. It's one of the largest subcompact sedans on the market, with dimensions exceeding those of a Volkswagen Jetta. The Dart is particularly wide, not only providing more space for passengers but also creating the feeling that you're driving something a bit different, not a compact car.

The Dodge Dart boasts one of the nicest cabins in its class, and it only gets better as you upgrade to the higher trim levels. While competitors simply add leather upholstery or some metallic accents to enhance the ambience, the Dart favors more padding, different stitching, and colorful accents. In addition to 12 exterior colors, it offers 14 interior colors and various upholstery combinations.

The car offers plenty of rear legroom, but the driver's seat feels a bit too high. Some may also find the front seats a little uncomfortable, which hurts comfort during long drives. Trunk space is 13.1 cubic feet, which is average for this class. The rear pillars are thick, and the high trunk position impairs the driver's rearward visibility. The steering wheel also has a limited range of tilt adjustment.

Spare Parts

The Dodge Dart has a drawback, as it is not a popular car in its class, given that it is an American car and the Dodge brand is known for its high prices and limited availability of its cars and spare parts due to the lack of demand for them. Some spare parts may be shared with Alfa Romeo models, which it relies on heavily. Also, Dodge Dart maintenance is very limited, even with some American specialists, and its prices are expensive.

Suspension

90%

The Dodge Dart is based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta's C-Evo Platform chassis, modified in length and width to fit the compact American sedan's dimensions. It also features a sporty chassis and suspension from Alfa Romeo, as well as steering from Alfa Romeo. This makes the car fun to drive, with agility that's less aggressive than models like the Dodge Challenger, but still feels sporty.

The steering is well-weighted, and the car does a good job of navigating corners while also offering the kind of comfortable ride you'd expect from a larger car.

Resale

The Dodge Dart's resale value is weak in Egypt, as production was quickly discontinued due to its lack of strong global sales. However, it is one of the best Dodge models in the Egyptian resale market.

The difficulties in selling it arise from its competitive capabilities in the mid-size car category (under 1600 cc), which represents the largest segment of the car market. It targets customers looking for cars with a small, powerful engine and fuel-efficient performance.

Its success was not achieved due to its inability to compete with cars in its class. It was expected to compete with some compact cars in Egypt, but its higher price than other cars in its class put it out of competition. In addition, it is an American car. These cars are not popular with Egyptians due to the scarcity of spare parts, their high price, the high cost of maintenance, and the difficulty of finding specialists to maintain them. This makes it weak in the used car market and its resale value weak. Evidence of its weak sales is the weak sales figures we mentioned in the introduction over the past seven months in the market. Egyptian.

The most telling evidence of the company's weak sales is its response to the car's failure to be introduced in 2014. It stated that the car's distributors had stock of 2013 models, and since the car had not undergone any changes, there were no plans to introduce new imported batches in 2014.

Security

In addition to its safety and security features, which make it one of the safest cars, as well as its many technological advantages typically found in larger luxury sedans, the Dodge Dart has received numerous awards of excellence since its launch in the United States in 2012. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has ranked it among the best cars in safety and security, earning it a five-star overall rating for its advanced safety and crash-avoidance systems.

In crash testing, the Dart received an overall five-star rating, with five stars for total frontal impact protection and five stars for total side impact protection. Similarly, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the vehicle the highest rating of "Good" in the frontal, side-impact, and roof-strength tests. In a brake test, the Dart stopped from 100 km/h in 118 feet, ranking among the best in its class.

Among the most important features of the 2013 Dodge Dart are its more than 60 available safety and security features, including class-exclusive features such as Rear Cross-Traffic Detection, standard airbags, a durable chassis, and a body made of 68 percent high-strength steel, one of the highest ratios in the industry.

The Dart also features four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes as standard equipment on all models, electronic stability control, electronic roll stabilization, a ParkView® rearview camera, which displays on an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and ParkSense®. To assist when reversing, these features protect passengers in the event of a collision. The LATCH child seat anchor system allows child seats to be placed in any of the three rear seats.

It has safety features such as:

Front airbags for the driver and front passenger

ABS brakes

EBD brakes

Electronic stability program (ESP)

Anti-theft alarm

Immobilizer.
