Subaru Forester 2014 - 2018 Review

The fourth generation Subaru Forester was introduced in Egypt with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine producing approximately 150 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, while peak torque reaches 198 Nm at 4,200 rpm.

A 4-speed automatic transmission transfers power from the engine to all four wheels. The Forester reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 12.7 seconds.

The car has a 60-liter fuel tank. The car's top speed is 180 km/h, and it achieves a fuel consumption of 9.3 liters per 100 km.

The standard CVT transmission helps save fuel, but its performance is conventional, which comes with slow acceleration. The car isn't considered a distinguished car in terms of performance or speed, but it is a practical car capable of handling unpaved roads, as evidenced by its strong torque. It also has average fuel consumption compared to most of its competitors.

The Subaru Forester has proportional dimensions, measuring 4,595 mm in length, 2,735 mm in width, and 1,795 mm in height. The new Subaru Forester has a wheelbase of 2,640 mm. It is available with five seats and five doors.

The fourth-generation Subaru Forester has a solid, high-quality cabin with enough space for five people. The second row folds completely flat, creating ample storage space. This is more than enough for a family of five.

The interior quality is typical of Subaru, which follows a similar approach to Toyota. The design may not be exciting or modern, but it is ergonomically superior and consistent. All major controls are easy to access and use. Unfortunately, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were never offered in the fourth-generation Subaru Forester.

The Forester maintains the simplicity of Subaru's design philosophy inside. Aside from three large climate control dials and steering-wheel-mounted multimedia controls, this system's touchscreen interface is limited in capabilities, design, and functionality when compared to today's best.

Where the Forester shines is its focus on functionality. The high rear seats enhance thigh support and provide better visibility, while the Forester's rear legroom is comparable to a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The cabin also features sound insulation from road and wind noise.

Subaru Forester spare parts are very scarce in Egypt due to the car's rarity and moderate to high prices. They can be found at stores specializing in Japanese cars, specifically Subaru vehicles. Some also claim that some components are shared with some Toyota vehicles found on the market.

The vehicle's ground clearance is approximately 220 mm, enabling it to handle paved and uneven terrain well. Stability and solidity on the road also come from the advanced suspension system, which relies on the use of front struts, rear shock absorbers, and double wishbones, providing a pleasing balance.

The Subaru Forester resale market is very weak in Egypt, and it's rare to find this car of any generation locally due to the low demand for it due to its high price. The large 2000cc engine is already subject to high customs duties. This particular car has been in very low demand, making it difficult to find it in the used market and resell it.

Evidence of the car's fundamentally weak sales, even though it's new, is evidenced by statistics indicating that sales in the first nine months of 2016 amounted to only four cars, compared to four units in the first nine months of 2015.

These are the reasons why the company has sometimes asserted in Egypt that relaunching the Forester in the local market will be difficult due to the weak marketing opportunities associated with customs duties and its high price.

The fourth-generation Subaru Forester underwent a comprehensive facelift upon its launch, securing the car a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating thanks to its superior performance and safety features.

The new Subaru Forester is equipped with numerous safety features, including anti-lock braking systems (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), brake assist, and a safety brake pedal system. It also features side rails to reinforce the doors and protect the vehicle's occupants, active headrests, and a rearview camera.

It also features driver and front passenger airbags with an electronic stability program (ESP), as well as an immobilizer. It also features front and rear fog lights.

One of the most notable features of these models is the Vehicle Dynamic Control system, which controls vehicle dynamics. This is essential if a tire slips or fast driving causes the vehicle to deviate from its intended path. The four-wheel drive torque distribution, engine power, and brakes are adjusted to help keep the vehicle on track. Also, when the vehicle turns, the Active Torque Vectoring system brakes and distributes less torque to the inside wheels and more torque to the outside wheels, making handling more precise.

وفي الخارج يتوفر لها جنوط رياضية 18 بوصة ومساحات خلفية ومرايا جانبية كهربائية بطي كهربائي وباشارات جانبية مع مساحات للمصابيح الأمامية وتحكم بالمصابيح بدون توفر اضاءة LED امامية أو خلفية للسيارة أو سبويلر وحساسات مطر وقضبان مثبتة على السقف . 

وتفتقد السيارة العديد من التجهيزات الحديثة خاصة في الشاشات واضافة أبل كار بلاي وأندرويد أوتو وغيرها من التجهيزات العصرية غير المتاحة في السيارة التي تتواجد بها تجهيزات توفر لها أداء جيد.
