Maserati GranCabrio Car Review

The Maserati GranCabrio is Maserati's first four-seat convertible. When it was introduced in 2010, it had the longest wheelbase for a convertible at 2.942 mm, with an overall length of 4.881 mm, a width of 1.915 mm (without mirrors) and 2.056 mm (with mirrors), a height of 1.353 mm, and a gross weight of 1,887 kg. It offers adequate interior space despite its convertible form, and unlike other cars in this class, it also features comfortable rear seats for average-sized adults.

The interior of the 2010 Maserati GranTurismo Convertible is tastefully appointed using the finest materials and craftsmanship. The cabin exudes luxury and elegance, with a subtle hint of sports car influence. The car features a retractable fabric roof, in keeping with Maserati's long-standing tradition in the world of convertible cars.

The car also offers extremely comfortable interior seating, especially on long journeys, and can accommodate four people. The interior is equipped with all the safety features and equipment necessary for special trips.

The drawback of the car's cabin is the limited storage space in the trunk, given that it is a convertible whose roof folds and is stored in the rear. However, since the roof is made of fabric, there is storage space, unlike the roofs of hardtop convertibles.

The top of the retractable fabric roof also allows some air to pass through the seals, creating a noticeable whistling sound.

Due to the rarity of the Maserati GranCabrio, the availability of spare parts for it is also very rare in Egypt. I have very few specialized stores and you can buy them imported from outside Egypt. Their availability is more limited to the MTI dealership and the prices are of course expensive because it is a luxury car from a brand known for its very high prices.

The Maserati GranCabrio relies on a standard four-wheel independent suspension that includes a standard wishbone front suspension and standard front and rear stabilizer bars.

The Maserati GranTurismo Convertible strikes a balance between a luxurious ride and a sporty side. The suspension is compliant enough to absorb most road imperfections with ease without feeling overly soft or heavy. The 49/51 front/rear weight distribution provides greater stability through curves, while the adaptive suspension maintains body level through turns. For drivers who desire more vehicle dynamics, Sport mode revises transmission shift points, increases acceleration precision, and increases suspension firmness.

On the downside, the steering feels light and could use more feedback at higher speeds.

The Maserati GranCabrio is a very rare car in the used car market in Egypt. Because it is a Maserati brand car, it has sold only a few copies in Egypt. Maserati sales are generally limited for all models, unlike luxury brands such as BMW, Audi, and Mercedes, which are considered higher than these car categories. In addition to the fact that the GranCabrio is a convertible car, it is in a category that is basically in low demand and purchase. Therefore, both factors combine, whether it is a Maserati brand or a convertible car, to achieve very weak sales for the car in Egypt, which makes its presence extremely rare in the used car market compared to models such as the Maserati Levante, Ghibli, or even its coupe version, the GranTurismo.

The Maserati GranCabrio achieved the best possible performance in terms of structural rigidity. With the loss of the coupé's roof as a vital structural component, the rest of the GranTurismo Convertible's body had to be strengthened. This task was accomplished after extensive reinforcements throughout the body, with Maserati claiming the car offers the stiffest roof in its class.
